during their hours in duty. The also receive badges based on their
accomplishment and rank.
Who is a private investigator?
Private
detectives, work directly for clients or individuals who pay them for their
investigative services. These services are typically financial, legal or
personal matters. Private
investigators are usually involved in private sector issues like civil
litigation, matrimonial matters, civil fraud cases and locating witnesses in in
civil suits, etc. Private
investigators might help a client find a missing relative, or investigate a
suspicious spouse. They can even become involved in
criminal cases
when hired by attorneys or businesses.
Private
investigators though not working for the government must have a licence. The
licence requirements vary from state to state. Usually a private investigator
needs to be experienced enough to obtain licence.
A
private investigator do not have powers like that of police. They cannot make a
formal arrest, they cannot obtain information form government source, they are
not permitted to work on serious criminal cases unless hired by attorneys or
other members involved in the investigation.
The
work of the private investigator is also more tedious than that of law
enforcement officials. They work at irregular hours and it is more difficult
for them to obtain information. Private detectives are extremely good at
surveillance method as it is one of their best methods to obtain information.
The cases they look into includes matrimonial cases, property claims, screening
of employees and vendors etc.
